Delhi Red Fort Car Blast Update: The National Capital Region (Delhi-NCR) has been placed on high alert following Monday’s powerful blast near the Red Fort Metro Station that killed 13 people and injured several others. Massive checking drives are underway across the city on Wednesday, with Delhi Police and paramilitary forces deployed in large numbers at all entry and exit points. Vehicles entering and leaving the capital are being thoroughly inspected as part of heightened security measures, officials said.
Security Checks Intensified Across Delhi-NCR
Senior police officers are personally overseeing security operations at key interstate borders such as Ghazipur, Singhu, Tikri, and Badarpur. Random vehicle checks are also being conducted at markets, metro stations, railway terminals, and bus stands to ensure no suspicious movement goes unnoticed.
According to a senior police officer, all district units and specialised wings have been instructed to stay on high alert and increase patrolling in crowded zones, including tourist areas, malls, and religious sites. “We are taking no chances. Our priority is to maintain public confidence and ensure the city’s safety,” the officer said.
Security Tightened At Sensitive Locations
Sniffer dogs, metal detectors, and anti-sabotage teams have been deployed at sensitive and high-footfall areas across the capital.
Public Advisory
Authorities have urged citizens to remain vigilant and promptly report any suspicious persons or unattended objects through emergency helplines. Coordination meetings between the Delhi Police, Intelligence Bureau (IB), and paramilitary forces are being held regularly to assess the evolving security situation and review inputs related to the blast. Officials said the enhanced security measures would remain in place until further notice.
NIA Takes Over Probe
The investigation into the blast was officially handed over to the National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Tuesday. Union Home Minister Amit Shah directed the agency to submit its report at the earliest. The Home Ministry’s decision to transfer the case to the NIA, which investigates terrorism-related incidents, underscores the government’s view of the explosion as a suspected terror attack. Shah convened two high-level meetings before ordering the handover.
