Delhi Water Crisis: Supply Hit In South, Central And North Delhi Due To Ammonia Spike; Check Full List Of Affected Areas

Drinking water supply has been disrupted in several areas of Delhi due to an increase in the amount of ammonia in the Yamuna. The ammonia level in the Wazirabad reservoir has reached three PPM (parts per million). Additionally, due to reduced water supply from the Delhi Sub Branch (DSB) and the Carrier Lined Channel (CLC), the Wazirabad and Chandrawal water treatment plants (WTPs) are producing up to 50 per cent less drinking water. This is causing water supply problems in many areas of Delhi.

Treatment Plants Struggling With High Pollution Load

According to Jal Board officials, Delhi's WTPs can treat ammonia levels up to one PPM, but the current pollution is three times higher than this. Meanwhile, less water is being received from the DSB and CLC these days. This has resulted in less treated water being available from both WTPs.

List Of Areas Facing Water Shortage

Consequently, the drinking water supply is being disrupted in Majnu ka Tila, ISBT, the NDMC area, ITO, Lok Nayak Hospital, Defence Colony, CGO Complex, Rajghat, WHO, IP Emergency, Ramlila Maidan, Delhi Gate, Subhash Park, Gulabi Bagh, Timarpur, SFS Flats, Punjabi Bagh, Azadpur, Shalimar Bagh, Wazirpur, Lawrence Road, Model Town, Jahangirpuri, Moolchand, South Extension, Greater Kailash, Burari and its adjoining areas, the Cantonment and some areas of South Delhi.
