The Delhi Police has tightened the noose around criminals associated with gangs through a special drive. Under the newly initiated ‘Operation Gang Bust,’ the force executed a significant crackdown, marking their first anti-gangster campaign of the year. The operation ran from 8:00 pm on Friday until 8:00 pm on Sunday. It involved the deployment of 9,000 police personnel drawn from the Crime Branch and Special Cell, alongside teams from the Outer, Rohini and Dwarka districts.
During the drive, authorities raided 4,299 locations across Delhi, Haryana, Punjab, Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh, resulting in the arrest of 854 accused individuals. Among those arrested were 280 gangsters associated with major syndicates, including the Kapil Sangwan, Hashim Baba and Goldy Brar gangs. Additionally, 6,494 people were detained, and 690 new cases were registered.

The operation led to the recovery of 300 weapons, Rs 25 lakh in cash, 117 mobile phones, 28,000 units of illicit liquor, and 118 kilograms of narcotics.
‘Operation Prahar’ Conducted Simultaneously
In a parallel effort to curb organised crime, the Outer District Police conducted a special campaign named ‘Operation Prahar.’ Over the course of this extensive two-day drive, police arrested 143 accused individuals and registered 97 criminal cases against them. The action resulted in the seizure of a large quantity of illegal liquor, weapons, drugs and cash.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (Outer District), Sachin Sharma, stated that the recoveries from the arrested accused included over 13,000 quarters of liquor, four pistols, three live cartridges, 14 knives, Rs 1.39 lakh in cash, over 12 kilograms of cannabis (ganja), 21.18 grams of smack, and 39 buprenorphine tablets.
