Republic Day Traffic Advisory: Ahead of the Republic Day celebrations, Delhi Police have increased security measures across the city. Comprehensive checks are being conducted on all modes of transport, including roads, railways, metro services, and private vehicles. Metro and railway stations are also under heightened security.
On Friday, Delhi will hold its final rehearsal for the Republic Day ceremony. In preparation for this, a ban on large commercial vehicles entering Delhi will be enforced from Thursday evening. This restriction will remain in place until the afternoon of January 23.
According to a report by Jagran.com, similar vehicle restrictions will apply on the evening of January 25. Large commercial vehicles will be prohibited from entering the city until after the Republic Day celebrations conclude on January 26. Additionally, routes leading to Delhi’s borders with Bahadurgarh and Badli areas are being barricaded by the Jhajjar Police. Enhanced security measures are in effect, with continuous vehicle checks.
While Delhi Police conduct blockades, Bahadurgarh Police are also inspecting vehicles. Suspicious vehicles and individuals are under strict surveillance. Police have been deployed at bus stands, railway stations, parks, and other public spaces. Inspections of hotels, dhabas, guesthouses, and hostels are also being carried out by police teams.

During the vehicle checks, several cars were found in violation of regulations, such as having tinted windows, and were subsequently detained. City police also conducted checks at the Tikri and Jharoda Kalan borders. Authorities have confirmed that from the evening of January 22, vehicles will not be allowed to enter Delhi until the final rehearsal concludes on January 23.
Given the full dress rehearsal and parade for Republic Day, temporary restrictions on the movement of goods and heavy vehicles within Delhi will be enforced. These restrictions will be in effect from 10 PM on January 22 until the afternoon of January 23, and from 10 PM on January 25 until the afternoon of January 26.
In preparation for Republic Day, the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has adjusted its schedule. To accommodate the large crowds heading to Kartavya Path for the Republic Day parade, metro services will start earlier than usual at 3 AM on January 26. Last year, metro services began at 4 AM.
Between 3 AM and 6 AM, trains will run at 15-minute intervals, after which normal service will resume. The nearest metro station to Kartavya Path is Udyog Bhawan Metro Station.
