AI, Coding, and Drone Tech in Classrooms: The Indian Education system is undergoing a significant transformation from the traditional way of teaching to now shifting to Artificial Intelligence and coding. The Education thinker, Harvard’s Howard Gradner and Anthea Roberts has predicted that by the end of the 2050, schools will be hubs of personalised, Artificial Intelligence, tech-powered learning and several courses related to this. It aims to provide a tailored curriculum to each student's strengths and geared toward future and lasting career opportunities
1. From Chalkboards to Coding Classes: There was a time when classrooms only relied on the education provided by the textbooks and lectures. Now, Artificial Intelligence is ruling each and every field. Coding is now becoming a fundamental as well as an important skill taught from early age to the students to become great leaders in future. Teaching programming languages and courses inspire creativity and logical thinking among students and they become more curious to understand new things.
2. Drones Take Flight in Education: Drones are being officially introduced as hands-on learning aids in STEM subjects. They offer practical exposure to programming, aerodynamics and robotics to students to learn about the basics of AI related education. These courses aim to prepare students not just for theoretical examination, but for future careers, especially in a world where AI will transform the way of working.
3. Government and Private Sector Initiatives: To bridge the gap between traditional way of teaching and advanced way of teaching with Artificial Intelligence, several Government programs and private organisations have collaborated to conduct workshops and training sessions to upskill teachers as well as students, let them understand the value of AI and how it will transform everything in the coming years.
4. Infrastructure and investment: The Delhi Cabinet approved a Rs 900-crore plan to install 18,996 smart boards in the government schools commenced from July 2025. These smart boards will be rolled out in the phases over 5 years, commencing with Classes 9–12, and completed by the year 2029–30. Everyone knows that Artificial Intelligence has become an important part of everybody's life, schools and colleges are trying to provide AI related courses, artificial intelligence workshops and coding classes for students.
Important: The Education Minister Ashish Sood mentioned that there are only 799 classrooms, schools that have received smart boards between the period of 2014 and 2024, and that too through CSR donations. Another 2,466 smart boards for 75 CM Shri Schools will be soon established.
What’s Next?
To successfully conduct these skill-based educational courses and programmes across India, several experts emphasise the need for a multiple approach. This includes investment in continuous teacher training programmes and workshops that focused on digital tools and trending technologies.
