According to several reports, workers are protesting against anti-worker, anti-farmer, anti-national pro-corporate policies of the central government. It is expected that students, teachers, and staff might face difficulties in reaching their campuses due to widespread participation by transport and public service workers. A forum of 10 central unions, along with their associates, will go for this strike.

More than 25 crore labourers are likely to take part in the protest. The strike will be called by the name of ‘Bharat Bandh’ and the trade unions have mentioned to ‘make this nationwide general strike a grand success.’ Schools will function normally, state transport, bus disruptions and road disruptions might lead to delays, especially in areas where the strike will be supported fully.

Bharat Bandh On 9th July: Will Schools be closed?

In past nationwide strikes, it has been observed that some local authorities have issued last-minute notices, and school and college attendance was patchy based on how much transport was affected. A forum was submitted in 2024 with a charter of 17-point demands to Labour Minister Mansukh Mandavia, the workers' union forum mentioned in media interaction.

Parents and students are advised to keep a close check on local news and factor in extra travel time, particularly if they use state-operated buses or trains, they must take extra time to reach. Private cars, metro operations, and autos should be available as usual but potentially face increased demand.

The government of India has abandoned the welfare state status of the country and is now working in the interest of foreign and Indian corporate organisations, and it is so evident from its policies that employees are being pursued vigorously, the forum said. More than 25 crore workers are expected to participate in the strike. Farmers and rural workers will also join the protest across the country,” Amarjeet Kaur of the All India Trade Union Congress (AITUC) told Press Trust of India (PTI).
