Bihar B.Ed Appointments: The Patna High Court invalidated the National Council for Teachers Education's (NCTE) 2018 notification, which made the B.Ed. required for primary school teacher appointments. B.Ed. holders are ineligible to teach in primary schools, the High Court made clear in this decision as per the media reports.
Chief Justice K. the division bench of Vinod Chandran and Justice Rajeev Rai gave the above order while accepting the petitions filed by Lalan Kumar and others. The division bench made it clear that D.El.Ed. holders only will be appointed as primary school teachers. The petitioners challenged the NCTE's June 28, 2018, notification that primary school teachers with a B.Ed. degree were eligible. The Supreme Court heard a challenge to this notification. It had been canceled by the Supreme Court.

Over 22 thousand teachers who have passed the B.Ed exam for classes 1 to 5 will be affected. All these teachers were appointed under the 6th phase. The bench of the court has given a clear decision regarding the appointment of teachers from classes 1 to 5. In such a situation, B.Ed pass candidates will not be considered eligible for appointment as primary school teachers.
