Britannica Education on Friday launched its operations in India, introducing a comprehensive range of digital learning tools aimed at reshaping the country’s educational landscape. The launch event, held in New Delhi, brought together over 150 educators, policymakers, and experts to discuss the company’s vision for accessible, skill-based education.

With a history spanning over two centuries, Britannica’s foray into India is marked by the unveiling of 12 digital products, including Britannica School, Britannica Library, Britannica Professional Learning, and Britannica Connect – Global Community for Collaborative Learning (GCCL). These tools are designed to enhance foundational literacy, numeracy, and 21st-century skills like critical thinking and digital literacy.

The solutions align closely with NEP 2020’s focus on experiential and holistic learning. Britannica’s offerings emphasise a shift from rote memorisation to a pedagogy centered on inquiry and practical application. Products like Britannica Professional Learning provide customised training for educators, while platforms like GCCL encourage international collaboration and cultural exchange.

A key aspect of Britannica's approach is sustainability, integrating programs that nurture environmental consciousness. Moreover, the use of cutting-edge technology supports interactive and remote learning, making quality education accessible and scalable.

Speaking at the event, Sal De Spirito, Global Executive Vice President, Britannica Education, said, “Our mission is to inspire curiosity and the joy of learning, providing trusted, verified content that supports both teachers and students. By empowering educators and nurturing skill-based growth, we aim to ensure that every learner—regardless of background—can achieve their dreams.”

Marcelo Zanon, International Curriculum and Editorial Director, highlighted Britannica’s commitment to fostering inquiry-based learning. “Our solutions align seamlessly with India’s NEP 2020, offering research-based, age-appropriate content and tools that foster inquiry, critical thinking, and deeper understanding. We are here to support educators in creating meaningful learning experiences that prepare students for a rapidly evolving world.”

Utkarsh Mishra, Director of Commercial Operations for Britannica Education India, underscored the importance of blending global expertise with local strengths. “India’s rich educational heritage resonates with Britannica’s legacy. By merging global best practices with local strengths, we bring research-driven, skill-focused, and future-ready learning solutions that empower schools, educators, and students across the nation.”
