CBSE Board Exam 2025: The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) will conduct special examinations for students participating in national or international sports events, aiming to promote youth involvement in sports and educational competitions. Since 2018, CBSE has been offering this opportunity by organising special exams at a later date to ensure students do not face any academic setbacks.
These exams are available to students whose CBSE board exams coincide with the dates of national or international sports events, including travel days, for events recognised by the Sports Authority of India (SAI) and the Board of Cricket Control in India (BCCI).
"In line with the Government of India's concerted efforts to elevate the nation's profile in the global sports arena, several initiatives have been rolled out to encourage youth participation in sports. Reflecting this commitment, CBSE has also mainstreamed Health and Physical Education at the Secondary and Senior Secondary levels by introducing a mandatory period per day for sports, games, etc," reads the notification.
Moreover, since March 2020, CBSE has extended this provision to students participating in International Olympiads. Special exams are conducted for those whose board exam dates overlap with the Olympiad schedule, including travel days, for Olympiads recognised by authorised bodies like the Homi Bhabha Centre for Science Education (HBCSE).
Students seeking this opportunity must submit a request through their school. Approval from the regional office will be communicated to the respective schools by January 15, 2025. This provision applies only to the main theory examinations that fall during the event or journey period of the sport or Olympiad in which the student is participating.
The Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for such students is as under:
