CBSE Board Exams 2025: Practical exam guidelines

Schools must take the following procedures to ensure the timely administration of Class 10, and 12 practical exams, projects, and internal assessments:

- Verify that an adequate number of practical answer books are received by the school before the planned day of practical examinations.

- Schools should educate parents and students about the timetable of practical, project, and internal assessments in order to ensure full compliance with CBSE regulations.

- Assure that the laboratories have the required infrastructure, equipment, and materials to perform practical exams. Ensure that laboratories or facilities are properly set up for students to conduct their experiments.

- Engage the external examiners selected by CBSE for the conduct of practical tests well in advance to ensure a smooth process.

- Make the necessary provisions for children with special needs (CWSN) to take tests in a comfortable environment.

- Students will take practical tests as scheduled by the school.

- The marks for all practical tests will be uploaded every day, on the day of evaluation.

- While uploading the results, the school and examiners will make sure that the proper marks are uploaded, as no corrections to the marks will be permitted once they have been uploaded.

- Schools should double-check the maximum marks allotted before awarding and submitting them. Principals are asked to verify that the right marks are uploaded, as requests for mark corrections after the result will not be granted.

- School principals and examiners should verify that all marks assigned to students are purely based on their performance.

- The answer books issued for practical exams 2025 contain an undertaking for examiners, which states that the maximum marks assigned to practical in the topic have been checked and marks have been given after reading every instruction.

- No student who participates in sports at the national or international level will be excluded from taking the IA, and no separate practicals will be conducted or organized for them.

- For Class 12, schools are not permitted to establish alternative arrangements for external examiners to perform practical exams or project assessments on a local basis. Practical tests can only be administered by an external examiner.

- If it is discovered that the school used an external examiner who was not appointed by the CBSE to perform practical exams, this evaluation will be deemed invalid.

- In the event that the board's directions are not followed by the schools, the board reserves the authority to postpone the practical examination.

- Schools ought to ensure that the practical tests take place only between January 1, 2025 and February 14, 2025. From February 1, 2025 onwards, school principals should check in with their vice-principal, coordinators, or concerned instructors to see how practical examinations are going and what marks have been uploaded.
