The Delhi Directorate of Education (DoE) on Wednesday instructed all government and private schools to implement the guidelines for student safety and security.

According to a circular from the directorate, "All the heads of government, government-aided and private schools are directed to take necessary steps as elaborated in the guidelines."

The circular emphasised that school heads must ensure their schools meet the readiness standards outlined in the safety checklist provided in the Manual on Safety and Security of Children by the National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR).

The circular further stated that the NCPCR’s guidelines are designed to hold school management accountable for student safety and security and include a comprehensive checklist for school safety inspections.

Moreover, the DoE instructed all institution heads to adhere to the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) guidelines for hostels in educational institutions.

"The Ministry of Education has also introduced the ‘Guidelines on School Safety and Security 2021' issued in compliance with the Supreme Court's directions and the National Education Policy, 2020," it added.
