Delhi Nursery SchoolAdmission 2026: The nursery admissions in the national capital is set to commence next month. Parents gearing up to secure a seat for their little ones in over 1,700 private schools across Delhi for the 2026-27 academic session can mark December 4, 2025, as the starting date.
The Directorate of Education (DoE) has released the comprehensive schedule and guidelines, outlining a transparent and time-bound procedure for admissions to Nursery, Kindergarten (KG), and Class 1.
Age Eligibility Criteria & Document Required:
One of the most critical aspects of the admission process is ensuring your child meets the age criteria as of March 31, 2026. The DoE has specified the following:
Essential Documents:
To ensure a smooth application process, parents are advised to keep the following documents ready. Schools will require these for age and address verification:
- Child's birth certificate: The main document for proof of age.
- Domicile certificate: Issued in the name of the child or guardian.
- Parent's voter ID card: For address and identity verification.
- Utility bill: Recent electricity, water, or telephone bill showing the parent's address.
- Aadhaar card: For the child or parent.
- Ration card: As proof of address.

Delhi Nursery Admissions 2026-27: Important Note on Seat Reservation
This admission schedule and process applies specifically to 75% of seats in the General Category (open seats). The Directorate of Education will issue separate instructions and timelines for the remaining 25% of seats reserved for the Economically Weaker Section (EWS) and Disadvantaged Group (DG).
This process is set to begin in a few weeks, so parents are advised to begin preparing their documents and researching each school's criteria to ensure they are fully prepared.
