Classes for the new batch of students for the 2024-25 academic year are scheduled to begin on August 29. The induction or orientation programme is held to familiarise newly admitted students with college policies, officials, and the overall environment.

The cancellation of the orientation programme comes amid controversy over alleged denial of admission to several students, who have now taken the issue to court.

Previously, the college had clarified that admissions were extended to only 5 percent more students than the sanctioned capacity due to seat constraints.
