Delhi-NCR School Holiday: Delhi, Gurugram And Noida Winter School Holidays Extends Amid Cold Wave And Heavy Fog

Delhi School Holidays:  North India is experiencing a severe cold wave, prompting authorities to extend school holidays in Delhi, Noida, and Gurugram to ensure the safety of students amidst dense fog and biting cold. According to an announcement by the Delhi government's Directorate of Education (DoE), winter holidays will continue in schools across Delhi until January 15.

This winter break, which began on January 1, is part of the official academic calendar for the 2025-26 session.

The DoE had scheduled this break considering the severe cold weather that typically grips Delhi in early January. Cold mornings, dense fog, and low visibility often make travel unsafe, especially for young students attending morning classes.

Winter Holidays Aim to Protect Students' Health:

The purpose of the winter holidays is to protect students, particularly those in primary and middle school, from the extreme cold.
The morning weather in January can be very cold, increasing the risk of health problems such as coughs, colds, and other respiratory issues.

By following a uniform winter holiday schedule, the DoE ensures consistency across all schools, reducing confusion for parents and allowing schools to plan academic activities effectively.

Uttar Pradesh Schools Closed Until January 15:

Similarly, in Uttar Pradesh, schools for all boards from nursery to class 8 will remain closed until January 15. Authorities cited dense fog and the cold wave as the reason for extending the holiday. Students are expected to resume classes only after the weather improves and conditions are safe for travel.

Haryana Schools to Follow the Same Schedule:

The Haryana School Education Directorate has confirmed that winter holidays will continue in all government and private schools from January 1 to January 15, with regular academic sessions resuming on January 16.

What Parents Should Know?
