UPSC Dreams To NEET Topper: Mahesh Kumar, an 18-year-old from Hanumangarh, Rajasthan, stunned the nation by securing All India Rank (AIR) 1 in NEET 2025. While his early academic inclination leaned towards Arts and civil services (UPSC), fate had other plans. Influenced by his sister’s advice, Mahesh took up Biology in his senior secondary years. The decision that once felt uncertain has now led him to the top of India’s most competitive medical entrance exam.
Studying at a renowned coaching institute in Sikar, Mahesh clocked 6–7 hours of study daily. “A month before the exam, I reduced it to 4–5 hours to stay stress-free,” he shared. His efforts bore fruit, as he scored an astounding 99.99%. “It’s unbelievable! I had faith in myself, but never expected to top the country,” Mahesh expressed at a felicitation event. His humble background — both parents being government school teachers — only adds to his inspiring story.
