Dussehra 2024 School Holidays: Schools To Remain Closed On These Dates For Maha Navami, Durga Puja, Diwali

Dussehra School Holidays 2024: October marks the beginning of the festive season, starting with the nine-day celebration of Navratri, followed by Durga Puja, Dussehra, and Diwali. Along with the festivities and joy, this time of year brings extra cheer for school students, as most educational institutions across the country remain closed for several days to observe these festivals. Some schools announce a short break, while others provide a longer Dussehra 2024 school holiday for celebrations. Students and parents are advised to contact their respective schools for the exact holiday dates.

In several North Indian states, including Uttar Pradesh, Delhi, Bihar, Haryana, Jharkhand, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Punjab, and Uttarakhand, the Dussehra 2024 school holidays will be observed from October 10 to 12, 2024. Moreover, October 13 falls on a Sunday, providing an extended break. As a result, schools and colleges will enjoy a total of four consecutive holidays from October 10 (Thursday) to October 13 (Sunday). In some regions, recognising the significance of Durga Puja, a week-long holiday has been declared from October 7 to October 13.

Moreover, Valmiki Jayanti, celebrated on October 17, 2024, commemorates the birth of the revered poet and sage Valmiki, the author of the Ramayana. Schools are expected to remain closed in observance of this significant day. Diwali, the festival of lights, will be celebrated on October 31, 2024. This major festival marks Lord Rama’s triumphant return to Ayodhya after defeating Ravana, and schools and institutions across India will close to honor this joyous occasion.
