Respected Principal, esteemed teachers, dear students, and honored guests,
A very pleasant and happy morning to all of you!
Today, we are gathered here with joy and respect to celebrate a day that is very important to us all—Gandhi Jayanti.
Every year, on October 2, we remember and honor Mahatma Gandhi, also known as the "Father of Our Nation." This year marks the 155th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, who was born in Porbandar, Gujarat. Gandhi Ji studied law and became a lawyer, but he is most famous for his leadership in India’s fight for freedom from British rule. He showed the world that freedom can be won without violence, using peaceful methods like non-cooperation and civil disobedience.
Gandhi Ji was often called the “Mahatma,” which means “great soul,” because of his wisdom and his belief in truth and non-violence. He strongly believed that violence only creates more problems and that real change comes through peace. One of his most famous acts was the Salt March in 1930, where he led people in peaceful protest against British laws. He also played a key role in many other important movements, like the Non-Cooperation Movement, the Quit India Movement, and the Champaran Satyagraha.
Another great freedom fighter, Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose, gave Gandhi Ji the title "Father of the Nation" because of his incredible role in India's freedom struggle. Gandhi Ji inspired millions of Indians to come together and fight for independence, and with the help of many brave freedom fighters, India finally achieved independence on August 15, 1947.
On Gandhi Jayanti, schools, colleges, and government institutions across the country honor this great leader by holding prayer services, cultural programs, and various competitions. It is a day to remember his teachings of peace, truth, and love for all.
Let us all take inspiration from Gandhi Ji’s life and try to practice his values in our own lives. Thank you, and Happy Gandhi Jayanti to all!
