GCET 2024: The Directorate of Technical Education (DTE) Goa has decided not to organise the Goa Common Entrance Test (GCET) in 2024. Instead, all admissions into the Engineering B.E. courses and BPharm courses offered by participating institutes in Goa will depend on the JEE Main 2024 scores and NEET 2024 scores. Earlier, the DTE was responsible for conducting the Goa common entrance test.
Under this new system, candidates will be allocated seats according to their performance in JEE Main 2024. The National Testing Agency (NTA) is scheduled to conduct JEE Main 2024 Session 1 from January 24 to February 1, and Session 2 from April 1 to 15. Candidates have the option to appear in either JEE Main session 1 or 2, or both. If they choose to take both sessions, the highest score will be considered in the final result.
“Admissions to Engineering B.E. Degree courses in the State of Goa in the year 2024-25 shall be carried out on the basis of Score/Rank at Joint Entrance Exam (JEE-Main)-2024 to be conducted by National Testing Agency (NTA) in January 2024 and April 2024,” reads the official notification.
For the academic year 2024-25, admissions to the B.Pharma degree program in Goa will be determined by considering the highest aggregate score in Physics and Chemistry, which can be obtained from either the JEE-Main 2024 or NEET-2024 exams. Consequently, candidates interested in securing admission to the B.Pharma course have the flexibility to opt for either JEE-Main 2024, NEET-2024, or both exams. As per the exam calendar, NEET 2024 will be held on May 5, 2024.
