Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel has launched an e-portal for the online sale of gifts received by the CM, continuing the tradition of using the proceeds for noble purposes such as girl education. These gifts, received during public functions and tours, will now be sold through an online platform, ensuring transparency in the process. Previously, such items were sold at state-level public auctions or by District Collectors at local auctions.
In alignment with Prime Minister Narendra Modi's push to advance the Digital India campaign, Gujarat has introduced this e-portal to facilitate the sale of these gifts. The online platform, named CM Mementos, allows users from anywhere in the country to participate in the e-auction after registering. The funds generated from these sales will be directed to the Girl Child Education Fund.
The initiative builds on a tradition started by PM Modi during his tenure as Gujarat's Chief Minister when he deposited his gifts in the government Toshakhana and sold them to fund girls' education. Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel has continued this practice, emphasising that he is a trustee of these gifts, not their owner.
The e-auction portal, developed by NCode GNFC, facilitates the sale of gifts under Toshakhana. It features a category-wise classification of items, with photographs provided by NIFT. Each item is accompanied by a detailed description in both English and Gujarati.
The inauguration event was attended by Chief Secretary Rajkumar, Additional Chief Secretary to the Chief Minister Pankaj Joshi, M K Das, Principal Secretary of Finance Department Natarajan, Aarti Kanwar, Secretary to the Chief Minister Avantika Singh, and other senior officials.
