IBPS PO Prelims 2025 Exam Analysis (August 17): On August 17, the first day of the 2025 Probationary Officer (PO) preliminary test for Shift 1 and Shift 2 was held by the Institute of Banking Personnel Selection (IBPS). The difficulty of both shift papers was evenly distributed, with a mix of simple and difficult problems in various areas.

According to student feedback, the English Language component was deemed simple to moderate, while the Reasoning Ability and Quantitative Aptitude sections were viewed as rather challenging. All things considered, applicants who answered 65–72 questions accurately might stand a fair chance of passing the cutoff.

The exam had a total 100 number of Questions, each question carrying 1 mark, and the exam was completed within a period of 60 minutes (1 hour). As per initial student and expert reaction, both Shift 1 and Shift 2 showed almost similar patterns regarding question distribution and difficulty.

English Language: Easy To Moderate

The English section was the most straightforward among the three. most of the Questions were asked from Reading Comprehension, Error Detection, Para Jumbles and Cloze Test. Most candidates found this section to be scoring, with 24–26 good attempts. The comprehension passage was uncomplicated, focusing on contemporary themes, and the vocabulary questions were direct.

Quantitative Aptitude: Moderate and Time-Consuming

This section proved to be somewhat challenging, particularly due to the Data Interpretation (DI) sets and arithmetic-based word problems. Questions related to Simplification/Approximation and Number Series were manageable.

Candidates reported time pressure while solving caselets and DI. Average good attempts ranged between 20–24 questions.

Reasoning Ability: Moderate

The Reasoning section was of moderate difficulty, primarily featuring Puzzles, Seating Arrangement, Syllogism, Inequality, and Blood Relation. While puzzles required considerable time, other questions such as syllogism and inequality were straightforward and manageable.

Good attempts were around 23–27, with accuracy playing a key role.

Overall Student Feedback:

As per the student initiallly feedback, the overall paper was moderate, with English being the easiest scoring area, while Quant and Reasoning demanded more focus. Time management was crucial and those attempting 65–72 questions with accuracy can consider it a good performance.
