IIT Bombay Placement: According to media reports, 22 students grabbed salary packages totalling more than Rs 1 crore during phase 1 of placements at the Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay (IIT B). The institute published a revision in the report that earlier said that 85 students had secured such packages, roughly four times the 25 such offers last year. The institution did certify that all other data in its study, which was issued on January 4, was valid.
According to the reports, of the 22 students who received wage packages greater than Rs 1 crore, three students received local offers, while the remaining 19 received overseas offers. In comparison, 16 of the 25 offers above Rs 1 crore were accepted in the first round of the placement season last year. Two of the sixteen bids were domestic, while the other fourteen were overseas. After all placement rounds, students accepted a total of 1,224 offers, including 63 overseas offers in 2022-23. American Express, TSMC, Honda Japan, McKinsey & Company, Boston Consulting Group, Morgan Stanley, Sprinklr, Reliance, Adani, and Tata were among the top recruiters last year.
This year, students sitting for placements in the first round accepted a total of 63 overseas offers. The second phase will start by the end of the month. Approximately 60% of the 2,000 students who applied for placement have received offers.

Airbus, Air India, Apple, Google, Intel, Jaguar Land Rover, Morgan Stanley, Qualcomm, Tata Group, Texas Instruments, and Wells Fargo were among the top recruiters this season. Engineering and technology, IT/software, finance/banking/fintech, management consulting, data science and analytics, research and development, and design were the key areas generating the most offers.
The official statement of the institute read, "The phase-I placements (December 1-20, 2023) incorrectly reported the number of accepted Rs 1 crore plus offers as 85. The correct number of accepted one crore plus offers is 22. All other data reported is confirmed to be correct. The Placement Office of IIT Bombay strongly regrets this mistake."
