The Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi (IIT Delhi) on Tuesday postponed the mid-semester exams originally planned from February 21 to February 24. The decision to postpone the mid-semester exams came following the reported suicide of Varad Sanjay Nerkar, a final-year MTech student aged 23, hailing from Nashik, Maharashtra, which happened late Thursday evening in his hostel room.

According to media reports, the mid-semester exams will now be conducted from February 26 to 29, 2024.

“Varad Sanjay Nerkar’s suicide has left all of us in deep anguish. This trauma has particularly affected students preparing for their mid-semester exams,” said an email from the institute, as per the media reports.
