UPSC Topper Success Story: Nalanda District Magistrate Udita Singh interacted with students of Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalaya under the Beti Bachao Beti Padhao programme, motivating them to pursue their dreams through education, discipline and hard work. The interaction took place during the students' educational visit to district administrative offices.
Sharing her personal journey from IIT Delhi to becoming an IAS officer, Singh encouraged the students to stay confident, embrace challenges and believe that perseverance, rather than shortcuts, is the key to achieving success in life.
From IIT Delhi to the Indian Administrative Service
During the interaction, Udita Singh recalled that her first dream was to become an engineer. After completing her engineering degree from IIT Delhi, she set her sights on the Civil Services Examination. Through consistent effort, discipline, and determination, she cleared the UPSC examination and became an IAS officer. She urged students to remain committed to their goals despite setbacks.
Dream Big, Speak Confidently and Never Fear Failure
The District Magistrate encouraged students to dream beyond limitations and express their thoughts without hesitation. She stressed that self-confidence is the foundation of success and advised girls never to consider themselves weaker than others. Singh also informed them about the Women Helpline 181 and Emergency Response Support System 112, encouraging them to seek help whenever required.
Lessons From Lord Ram and Prime Minister Narendra Modi
To inspire resilience, Udita Singh referred to the life of Lord Ram, saying that challenges make people stronger and more capable. She also cited Prime Minister Narendra Modi's journey, noting that determination and hard work can help individuals from ordinary backgrounds achieve extraordinary success. Her message highlighted that courage and perseverance, rather than circumstances, shape a person's future.
