ISRO Hackathon 2026: The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) has launched the third edition of the Bharatiya Antariksh Hackathon (BAH) 2026, inviting students from across the country to contribute innovative ideas to India's expanding space technology ecosystem. Organised in collaboration with innovation platform Hack2skill, the initiative seeks solutions to several astronomical and climate-related challenges through student-driven research and technology.
The competition is open to undergraduate, postgraduate and PhD research scholars enrolled in recognised Indian institutions. Teams of three to four members can participate, and students from different colleges and universities may collaborate. Registration and idea submission began on June 10, 2026, and interested candidates can apply free of cost through the official Hack2skill event portal. Shortlisted teams will receive mentorship from ISRO scientists and may also get internship opportunities with the space agency.

Eligibility Criteria and Team Formation:
The Bharatiya Antariksh Hackathon 2026 is open exclusively to undergraduate, postgraduate and PhD research scholars studying in recognised Indian institutions. Working professionals are not eligible to participate.
Teams should consist of three to four members, and participants from different colleges and universities can form a single team through cross-institution collaborations.
Problem Statements and Focus Areas:
ISRO has released 15 problem statements covering space exploration and climate science. These include analysing Chandrayaan-2 radar data to study lunar ice, forecasting solar flares using Aditya-L1 data, identifying exoplanets from noisy light curves and developing AI-based solutions for cloud removal in satellite images and climate modelling.
Important Dates for Bharatiya Antariksh Hackathon 2026:
The registration and idea submission process started on June 10, 2026, and will remain open till July 1. ISRO will conduct explainer sessions on June 15 and 16, while shortlisted teams will be announced on July 20. The grand finale is scheduled to take place on August 6 and 7, 2026.
Mentorship, Internships and Travel Benefits:
Selected finalists will receive technical guidance from ISRO scientists and domain experts during the development stage. Participants may also be considered for internship opportunities involving live space projects.
Additionally, the organisers will reimburse II AC train fares for shortlisted finalists attending the physical grand finale, offering both recognition and valuable industry exposure.
