Jammu Schools Closed:  The Directorate of School Education, Jammu, has announced a five-day holiday for all educational institutions up to the higher secondary level in observance of the Diwali festival. Schools will be closed from October 29 to November 2, 2024, and will reopen on November 4 after the pooja break. Students and parents can check the notification at schedujammu.nic.in.

"It is nearby ordered all the educational institutions Government/ Private upto Higher Secondary levels (Summer/ Winter zones) of Jammu Divison shall observe five (5) days Pooja Holidays w.e.f October 29 to November 2, 2024," reads the notification.

All government and private schools in the Jammu division will remain closed for a total of five days. Last year, the Directorate of School Education Jammu (DSEJ) also announced holidays for students and teachers to allow them time to celebrate with their families and rest. Following past trends, an extension of the holiday is not expected; however, students are advised to regularly check the DSEJ's official website for the latest updates.

In addition to Jammu, Tamil Nadu has also announced a holiday for all schools, colleges, and government offices on November 1, 2024. The state government announced this public holiday to enable people to celebrate Diwali and return home. Other states, including Uttar Pradesh, Delhi, Bihar, Andhra Pradesh, Haryana, and Madhya Pradesh, have also declared holidays for their residents. Students and parents are advised to regularly check their school websites or contact their respective schools for more details.
