Jharkhand School Holiday: Due to extreme cold wave, all schools and educational institutions in Ranchi will remain closed from December 26, 2025 to December 31, 2025. The school closure order for all the students from kindergarten to class 12 in all government and private schools to ensure safety of children and students. The schools will remain closed for 5 days (December 27 and December 31).
A notification published by the district education office reads, Under Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagrik Suraksha Samhita, all government, non-government, and private schools operating within’the Ranchi district are directed to close schools from KG to class 12 from December 26 to December 31, 2025.
Winter Vacation Announced in Ranchi:
All the schools in Jharkhand, including Ranchi and other areas will remain closed. As temperatures continue to drop across the state, the government has announced winter vacations for students. According to the state education department’s holiday calendar, schools in Ranchi will remain closed for winter vacation from December 26 to December 31, 2025 in most government and aided schools. All the classes will resume on their normal timings in January 2026, depending on the weather conditions, the authorities will take a call to extend the winter holidays to ensure students’ safety.

State-Wise Winter Vacation Schedule:
Delhi: January 1 to 15, 2026
Punjab: December 22 to January 10, 2026
Haryana: January 1 to 15
Odisha: December 23 to January 1, 2026
Uttar Pradesh: December 20- 31 (Tentative)
Schools Closed In These Districts:
Apart from Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh districts such as Prayagraj, Lucknow, Meerut and Kanpur are also going through severe cold wave and dense fog conditions. In some districts, schools up to Class 8 have been closed as a precautionary step, whereas others have revised the school timings for students. In several districts, schools are open and classes are being conducted from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm.
