School Holiday in Pune:  Due to road closures for Stage 2 of the Pune Grand Tour 2026, both private and government schools in the Pune Cantonment area will remain closed on Wednesday, January 21, 2026. 

A notification to this effect was issued by Pune district collector Jitendra Dudi, who has issued orders regarding declaring a holiday for all types of government and private schools in Pune Cantonment Board limits on Wednesday, January 21, 2026, on the day of the second phase of the Pune Grand Challenge Tour-2026 International Cycling Competition.

 


Where will the Pune Grand Tour Stage 2 Pass?

The route of the race will begin from the Ladies Club in Pune Camp and pass through key roads in the Pune Cantonment jurisdiction before moving towards Bopdev Ghat.

Stage 2 of the Pune Grand Tour spans 109 kilometres with an elevation profile of 1,466 metres. The stage will be held across Pune, Purandar, Rajgad, and Haveli areas of Pune district, regions known for their rugged terrain.

What is the route timing for Stage 2?

According to the tour's official website, Stage 2 of the Pune Grand Tour will begin at 12:30 PM on Wednesday from the Ladies Club and is expected to finish around 3:40 PM in Nanded City.

School Holiday for Pune Grand Tour?

Under the powers vested in him as the Chairman of the District Disaster Management Authority and the powers granted by the School Education and Sports Department, a holiday has been declared for private and government schools in the Pune Cantonment area on January 21st for Stage 2 of the Pune Grand Tour.

When contacted, Dudi clarified that the holiday has been declared only for schools in that area, not for colleges.
