NEET PG 2023: Medical aspirants are urging a revision of the NEET PG 2023 cut-off, with the Indian Medical Association (IMA) and Federation of Resident Doctors' Association (FORDA) emphasising this demand. They have collectively written to Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya, appealing for a reconsideration of the NEET PG 2023 cut-off to address the issue of vacant seats.
In a letter to Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya, the IMA and FORDA have requested a reduction in the NEET PG 2023 cut-off percentile by as much as 30 per cent.
According to the present guidelines, the NEET PG 2023 cut-off percentiles are set at 50 for General/EWS category candidates, 45 for General PwBD, and 40 for SC/ST/OBC candidates (including PwBD individuals in these categories). Attaining these percentiles is mandatory for aspirants to qualify for the examination.
"As a result of high cutoff scores, aspiring medical students will not only be prevented from entering post-graduation but will also be compelled to travel overseas to pursue their dream field of postgraduation, further depleting the medical manpower pool in India. We cannot afford to lose these precious gems in such a time when the country needs a full-blown medical army to protect citizens," the IMA association's letter reads.
"Over the past years, we have witnessed a persistent challenge in the form of vacant seats in medical institutions across the nation, even after multiple rounds of counselling for NEET-PG. This is a matter of great concern not only for the healthcare system but also for aspiring medical professionals who are eager to contribute to our nation's healthcare infrastructure. We humbly request your kind attention to consider the possibility of decreasing the cut-off score for the NEET-PG 2023 examination," the FORDA association's letter reads.
