NEET PG 2024 Exam: The Post-Graduate Medical Education Regulations, 2023 have been released by the National Medical Commission (NMC). The regulation necessitates counseling to be carried out by the state or central counselling authorities and requires all rounds of counselling for each seat to be conducted online mode.
The new regulations specify a common counselling process for admission to postgraduate medical courses across all medical institutions in India. Admission will be determined solely on the merit lists of respective exams. The regulations mandate that all rounds of counselling for every seat will be conducted online by state or central counseling authorities. Consequently, no medical college or institution will have the authority to directly admit any candidate.
"All rounds of counselling for all seats will be held on online mode by state or central counselling authority and no medical college/ institution will admit any candidate themselves. While entering details in seat matrix, medical colleges shall mention the amount of fees for each course, failing which seat will not be counted," reads the NMC notice.
According to the new regulations, when a medical college receives permission to commence PG courses or seats, the course will be recognised for student qualification registration. Moreover, undergraduate medical colleges now have the option to initiate postgraduate courses from the third year, whereas previously, this was only feasible from the fourth year in clinical specialties. Candidates are advised to read the official Post-Graduate Medical Education Regulations PDF for more details.
