NEET UG 2026 New Registration Rules: The National Testing Agency (NTA) has released the official notification for the NEET UG 2026 examination. This year, several new rules have been implemented in the registration system to make the examination process more secure and transparent. Aadhaar-based e-KYC, live photo capture, and multi-layer verification systems have been added for the first time to minimise the possibility of any irregularities or fraudulent applications.
The application process for NEET UG 2026 has started, and interested candidates can fill out the form by visiting the official website neet.nta.nic.in. The last date for submitting the application is March 8th. Candidates must submit the form and the application fee within the stipulated time frame, as incomplete applications or applications without fees will not be accepted.

Why The Rules Change?
The National Testing Agency (NTA) has clarified that new rules have been implemented to strengthen the credibility of the examination. The application process has been made more stringent in light of complaints received in previous years regarding duplicate registrations, irregularities in identity verification, and cheating.
Now, to ensure that the examination is conducted fairly, each candidate's identity will be verified at multiple levels.
Aadhaar-Based e-KYC Mandatory:
From this year onwards, Aadhaar-based e-KYC has been made mandatory for NEET UG applications. Candidates must ensure that the mobile number linked to their Aadhaar card is active. The agency has advised candidates to check for mobile network availability before starting the application process, as OTP-based verification will be conducted during the verification process.
New Live Photo Capture Feature:
Another major change in the NEET UG 2026 application relates to live photo capture. Now, candidates will have to take their photo in real-time while filling out the form. The face should be clearly visible and cover approximately 80 per cent of the frame in the photograph.
The NTA has instructed that candidates should not wear caps, spectacles, or goggles while taking the photo, so that it can be accurately matched with the photograph available in the Aadhaar database. Candidates who do not have a webcam can also upload the photo using their mobile camera by scanning a QR code.
The Photo will be Taken In Real-Time:
- The face should be clearly visible and cover at least 80% of the frame.
- Wearing caps, spectacles, or goggles is prohibited.
- If a webcam is not available, a mobile camera can be used via a QR code.
- The photo will be matched with the Aadhaar database.
Additionally, uploading a passport-size photograph, a scanned signature, address proof, and other necessary documents will be mandatory during the application process. The live photo will be matched with the Aadhaar record for identity verification.
