The University of Liverpool has opened its Bengaluru campus on Thursday with nearly 300 students in its inaugural cohort. The campus is located in Alembic City, Whitefield, featuring smart classrooms, research and innovation spaces, collaboration hubs, and specialised laboratories, and access to Bloomberg terminals, as stated in the official press release. Following this milestone, the University of Liverpool became the first Russell Group University to establish a campus in Karnataka. Initially, the Bengaluru campus will offer courses in Computer Science, Game Design, Business Management, Accounting and Finance, and Biomedical Sciences.
Who Attended The Opening Ceremony?
The Karnataka Chief Minister D. K. Shivakumar welcomed the new campus, stating that it enhances the state’s educational ecosystem. “The University of Liverpool Bengaluru campus is a fantastic addition to our thriving knowledge and innovation ecosystem, providing a world-class teaching and learning experience for students. The University has carefully considered the graduate-level skills required here in Karnataka, and I have no doubt that the campus’ graduates will go on to enjoy highly successful careers," said Shivakumar.
The opening ceremony was attended by Karnataka Minister for Large and Medium Industries and Infrastructure Development M. B. Patil, Liverpool City Region Mayor Steve Rotheram, University of Liverpool alumnus and former Liverpool Football Club player Robbie Fowler, and other representatives from India and the UK. British Deputy Commissioner to Karnataka Harshbir Sangha and British Council India Director Alison Barrett were also present.
