UP Schools Closed: The Gautam Buddh Nagar district administration announced four days of holidays for schools in the district. Schools in Noida will remain closed from January 3 to January 6 for students up to Class 8 due to the ongoing cold wave. The cold wave is sweeping across North India, including Noida and Delhi.
However, the district administration has made clear that students from classes 9 to 12 will continue to attend their classes. Earlier, the city's schools were closed for all classes on December 29 and 30 owing to the extreme cold.
"In compliance with the instructions given in public interest by District Magistrate Gautam Buddh Nagar Maneesh Kumar Verma due to severe cold and dense fog, there will be holiday till January 6 in the schools (from class nursery to 8) recognized by all boards. The order should be strictly followed," reads the order.

The weather in Uttar Pradesh remained dry for the past twenty-four hours, however there was dense to very dense fog in one or two areas of the state; the India Meteorological Department reported dense to moderate fog in isolated pockets of Delhi; 26 trains headed for Delhi experienced delays of one to six hours because of the fog.
