PM Internship Scheme 2024: More than 1.55 lakh candidates have applied for the Prime Minister Internship Scheme as of Sunday, as per the media reports. The dedicated portal for registration went live at 5 PM on October 12, with an initial target of 1.25 lakh applicants for the pilot project.

As of Sunday, the total number of registered candidates on the portal reached 1,55,109, as reported by news agency PTI. The scheme is open to individuals aged 21 to 24 and is being implemented by the Ministry of Corporate Affairs through the website www.pminternship.mca.gov.in. Internships are scheduled to begin on December 2.

Participants in the scheme will receive a monthly stipend of Rs 5,000 for 12 months, along with a one-time grant of Rs 6,000. In the past week, the portal has added over 80,000 internship opportunities across 24 sectors, including oil, gas, energy, travel, hospitality, and automotive.

The ministry stated that the portal ensures efficient access to internships with Aadhaar-based registration and features like bio-data generation. The estimated initial cost of the scheme's pilot project is Rs 800 crore. Announced by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman in the Union Budget 2024, the scheme aims to provide internship opportunities in the top 500 companies in India for a duration of 12 months.
