Pongal School Holiday 2025: Schools in Tamil Nadu and Telangana will remain closed for the upcoming festive celebrations of Pongal and Makar Sankranti. Several other states across India have also started announcing holidays for Makar Sankranti, with the duration varying by region. In some areas, schools will observe a four-day holiday, while others will enjoy a break of up to five days. Northern states will benefit from a long weekend as the second Saturday and Sunday align, whereas southern states like Tamil Nadu and Telangana are granting extended holidays of up to a week.

Telangana School Holidays 2025

The Telangana Board of Intermediate Education has declared holidays for all intermediate colleges in celebration of Makar Sankranti. The holidays will start from January 11 to January 16, 2025, with classes resuming on Friday, January 17.

This holiday applies to all junior colleges, including government, private, and aided institutions. It also covers residential schools, social welfare and tribal welfare schools, BC welfare schools, Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalayas, model schools, and degree colleges offering two-year intermediate courses.

Tamil Nadu School Holidays 2025

Tamil Nadu has announced a five-day holiday for schools to celebrate the vibrant festival of Pongal, a significant occasion for Tamils. Pongal marks the transition from winter to spring and holds great importance in Tamil culture and farming traditions.

Schools, colleges, and government offices in Tamil Nadu will remain closed from January 14 to January 17, 2025. This extended break will give students an opportunity to spend time with their families and participate in the festival's joyous celebrations and traditional activities.
