School Closed News: In observance of the Navratri festival, schools throughout India will have a few days of closures this month. Navami falls on October 23, leading to a holiday in most schools. Dussehra is celebrated on October 24, marking another day of closures for most of the schools, colleges, and offices across the country. As schools will also be expected to be closed on October 21 (Saturday) and October 22 (Sunday), students can expect a long weekend. Students are advised to contact their respective school heads to know their holiday status.
Moreover, several states have declared holidays ranging from 10 to 12 days for Dussehra. In Telangana, all schools, colleges, and educational institutions will remain closed for 13 days, starting from October 14 and continuing until October 25. Regular classes will resume on October 26 in both private and government educational institutions in Telangana, coinciding with the conclusion of the Dussehra break. In Telangana, Bathukamma and Dussehra will be observed on October 22 and 24, respectively, while junior colleges will have a seven-day closure from October 19 to 25, with classes resuming on October 26.
Meanwhile, in Odisha, schools will remain closed from October 20 to October 29 due to Durga Puja celebrations, as announced by the state government. The School and Mass Education department has issued a notice to the District Education Officers (DEOs) and Block Education Officers (BEOs) regarding the forthcoming school holidays due to Dussehra, with a scheduled reopening date of October 30. This closure period includes two Sundays, encompassing all elementary and secondary schools in Odisha.
Durga Puja, a prominent Hindu festival also referred to as Durgotsava or Sharodotsava, is an annual celebration that pays tribute to the Hindu goddess Durga and her victory over Mahishasur.
