School Holidays: Telangana and Tamil Nadu announced school breaks to celebrate festivals such as Pongal and Makar Sankranti. Other states throughout the country have begun to announce Makar Sankranti holidays. Some states have four-day holidays, while others have five. A long holiday is on the way in North India due to Sunday and the second Saturday, while the southern states will have a week-long break.
School holiday in Telangana
The Telangana Board of Intermediate Education (BIE) announced a Makar Sankranti school break for all intermediate institutions in the state. The holidays will begin on Saturday, January 11, and will go until Thursday, January 16. The board said that courses will be back on Friday, January 17.

The holiday will also be extended to all junior colleges, including government, private, aided, unaided, residential, social welfare, tribal welfare, model schools, BC welfare institutions, Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalayas, and composite degree colleges that offer the two-year Intermediate program.
Tamil Nadu school holiday
The Tamil Nadu government announced a five-day school break for Pongal. Pongal is a renowned harvest festival celebrated by Tamils all over India and around the world, and it symbolizes the conclusion of the winter solstice and the start of spring.
Pongal is celebrated in the state, hence all schools, institutions, and government offices will be closed from January 14 to January 17.
