Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to interact with participants in the Smart India Hackathon 2023 today, December 19. The hackathon's grand final is slated for tonight, and PM Modi will interact with attendees via video conference at 9:30 pm.

Smart India Hackathon 2023 saw the submission of over 50,000 ideas from 44,000 teams, a seven-fold increase over the first edition. The Grand Finale, the current SIH edition, is planned to take place from December 19 to 23, 2023.

This year, 1282 teams have been shortlisted to provide solutions across various themes, including Space Technology, Smart Education, Disaster Management, Robotics and Drones, Heritage and Culture, among others. The grand finale, which will take place at 48 nodal centers nationwide, will feature over 12,000 participants and 2500 mentors.

A total of 231 problem statements (176 software and 55 hardware) have been posed by 51 departments of 25 Union Ministers and state governments this year. Winning teams of the Smart Indian Hackathon will receive a cash prize of Rs 1 lakh per problem statement. Participating teams are present with problem statements by Central and State Ministries, Departments, PSUs, Industries, and NGOs.

The Smart India Hackathon (SIH) is a national project that empowers students to tackle pressing issues faced by various government ministries and departments, industries, and other organisations. It is in line with the Prime Minister's goal of youth-driven development.

The Smart India Hackathon, which was introduced in 2017, has become incredibly popular among young innovators. In the five years since it started, many innovative solutions have emerged in various industries and developed into successful enterprises.
