SSC CGL 2025 Postponement: The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) has officially postponed the Combined Graduate Level (CGL) Tier 1 examination 2025, originally planned for 13th to 30th August, to the first week of September 2025. This decision follows intense protests in Delhi and technical disruptions experienced during recent SSC exams.
As per the SSC notice dated 8th August 2025, the Commission has cited administrative and technical readiness issues as the main reasons for the rescheduling. Meanwhile, candidates can make changes in their applications through the OTR portal between 14th and 31st August 2025 at ssc.gov.in.

Reason Behind SSC CGL 2025 Postponement:
The decision to delay the SSC CGL exam came after chaos during the SSC Selection Post Phase 13 examination. Students reported several problems, including internet failures, biometric errors, and sudden cancellations. Protests have been ongoing since 31st July 2025, with candidates demanding fair and transparent processes.
Reason | Details |
---|---|
Technical failures | Internet issues, biometric mismatches, server crashes |
Administrative lapses | Use of blacklisted agency, unclear communication |
Protest pressure | Students and educators protesting in Delhi |
Platform readiness concerns | Ensuring smooth conduct after Phase 13 issues |

Impact on Candidates:
While the postponement provides extra preparation time, many candidates are struggling with uncertainty and stress. The mental toll has been high, especially for those appearing in multiple competitive exams.
Preparation Tips During Extended Time:
Candidates are advised to use this extra time to strengthen weaker topics, take mock tests, and prepare for Tier 2 in advance. Balancing study with rest is essential to avoid burnout.
Despite this, until recently, there was no clear update regarding the SSC CGL 2025 exam. That confusion is now resolved. The Commission has confirmed through an official notification that SSC CGL Tier 1 will now be held in the first week of September 2025.
