JE Education Desk: The 'Study In India' (SII) portal was introduced by the Education Ministry on Wednesday, August 4 to promote Indian education to international students and reestablish India as a major centre for higher learning.

The Portal, a one-stop platform that would streamline the academic experience of foreign students in India, was officially launched in New Delhi by Union Ministers of Education, Skill Development, and Entrepreneurship Dharmendra Pradhan and S Jaishankar.

Students from countries including Russia, Thailand, Japan, Ethiopia, Ecuador, Kazakhstan, and the Republic of Korea who are studying in India at the time gave trinkets from their cultures to dignitaries as a sign of respect.

The webpage will give information about academic facilities, research support, and other relevant topics, as well as comprehensive information about Indian higher education institutions. Additionally, it will offer a comprehensive one-stop process for the registration of students and the submission of visa applications.

The Study in India (SII) Portal will provide examples of academic programs for undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral levels as well as courses in traditional Indian knowledge systems including yoga, ayurveda, and classical arts.

"The launch of this portal is aimed at making India a hub of global education by welcoming students from diverse backgrounds. It will also help us establish a strong international footprint for India in the education sphere. I note the integrated approach of the portal, which enables user-friendly application processes for international students, from registration to visa approval. This simplifies their entire journey, facilitating the choice of desired courses and receiving offers from relevant institutions," Mr Jaishankar said at the launch.

There is no question that the presence of overseas students will assist domestic students from an Indian standpoint. It will help students feel more a part of the world that is becoming more globalized and better prepare them for a global workforce. He asserted that hosting international students enhances your comprehension of their customs, traditions, and even ways of thinking.

"When such students go back to their societies of origin, they truly become ambassadors of goodwill for India, sometimes even more so," he added.
