Telangana schools and colleges Holidays: he Telangana government has declared a three-day holiday for school and college students in light of the Bonalu festival. The consecutive holiday calendar runs from July 12 until 14, 2025, in some parts of Secunderabad.
The Bonalu festival started with the Secunderabad Lashkar Bonalu on the third Sunday of Ashadha. During the festival, devotees present offerings called "bonas" to the goddess, often decorated as Shakambari Devi. This traditional celebration holds immense cultural significance for the region.
Secunderabad schools and colleges will be closed on Monday for the Goddess Ammavari celebrations, giving students a three-day weekend. The holiday calendar follows July 12th as a second-Saturday holiday, July 13th as a regular Sunday, and July 14th as a government-declared holiday specifically for educational institutions in Secunderabad.
The festival brings together communities in vibrant celebrations, with colorful processions and traditional rituals throughout the city. Students and families can participate in the cultural festivities during this extended break.
Educational institutions are expected to resume normal operations on Tuesday, July 15th, following the conclusion of the Bonalu celebrations.
