UGC NET 2024: The National Testing Agency (NTA) will end the University Grants Commission - National Eligibility Test (UGC NET) registration for the December 2024 session today, December 10. The UGC NET December 2024 exam will be conducted from January 1 to 19 to assess students' eligibility for Junior Research Fellowship (JRF), assistant professorship, and PhD admission.
The NTA will administer the UGC NET exam 2024 for the December session in computer-based examination (CBT) format for 85 disciplines. According to the UGC NET application fee data, general and unreserved category applicants will pay Rs 1,150, general-EWS, OBC-NCL will pay Rs 600, and SC, ST, PwD, and third gender will pay Rs 325. The deadline for payment of the UGC NET registration fee is December 11.
During the rectification period, which runs from December 12 to 13, registered applicants will be able to alter the information they submitted to the UGC NET form 2024.
Following that, the NTA will publish the UGC NET exam city slip, which will indicate where the exam centre for the December session will most likely be located. The advance exam city slip differs from the hall ticket. The UGC NET admit card 2024 will include further information about the exam centre, date, location, exam times, personal information, and exam day instructions.
UGC NET 2024: Age limit
Those who meet the age requirements will be examined for JRF fellowships, assistant professorships, or PhD admittance.
Age limit for JRF - Candidates must be under 30 years old as of the first day of the month in which the exam is held, i.e. January 1, 2025. Aspirants from the OBC-NCL, SC, ST, PwD, third gender, and female categories are eligible for a 5-year relaxation.

Age limit for assistant professor - There is no higher age limit for applying to UGC NET as an assistant professor.
Age limit for PhD admission - There is no higher age limit for applying for PhD admission through UGC-NET.
The certificate must be given by an Indian university, an Institute of National Importance, or a foreign university recognized by the central or state government.
Candidates who have finished their LLM will be allowed a three-year age relaxation, while those who have served in the armed forces will be given a five-year relaxation, depending on the length of service.
“Relaxation will also be provided to the candidates with research experience, limited to the period spent on research in the relevant/ related subject of post-graduation degree, subject to a maximum of 5 years, on the production of a certificate from the appropriate authority,” the NTA said.
“The research should not have been carried out towards completion of graduation or post-graduation degree(s),” it clarified.
