UP New School Timings: Due to the extreme cold, the Uttar Pradesh government has modified the state's school schedule. Due to heavy fog, the state's secondary and higher secondary schools' opening and closing timings have been adjusted, according to a late Wednesday announcement from the authorities.

Additionally, the government has declared Thursday and Friday as school holidays in various locations. The District Magistrate's decree has caused the Ghaziabad schools' hours to be adjusted from 10 am to 3 pm for Classes 1 through 8.

On Thursday and Friday, all board schools in Aligarh, including those affiliated with Aligarh Muslim University, would be closed from Class 1 to Class 12.

In the same vein, Mathura schools' hours have been rescheduled to 10 am to 3 pm. Additionally, officials said that Jalaun's 1st to 8th-grade schools would be shuttered through December 31.

The Uttar Pradesh government has declared a 15-day winter vacation, which will run from December 31 to January 14, 2024, as a cold wave slams northern India. On Wednesday, a thick layer of fog covered the state, making daily living challenging.

In numerous areas, the visibility was reduced to less than 20 meters. Across the state, numerous car accidents resulted in at least eight fatalities and thirty injuries due to the heavy fog.
