UPPSC PCS Vacancy 2026: Commission To Release Combined State/Upper Subordinate Services Notification Soon; Prelims On December 6

UPPSC Civil Services Exam 2026: The Uttar Pradesh Public Service Commission (UPPSC) is set to release the official notification for the 'Combined State/Upper Subordinate Services Examination 2026' on its main web portal. Candidates aspiring to join the state administrative service, who have been eagerly awaiting the application dates for UPPCS 2026, can expect the full recruitment advertisement to be published online this week. It is estimated that approximately 750 key positions across the Revenue, Police, and Executive Administrative departments will be filled through this recruitment process.

Once the Commission activates the registration link at uppsc.up.nic.in, eligible candidates will be able to submit their applications for the state civil services. According to the preliminary schedule, the crucial preliminary screening examination is tentatively slated to be held on December 6, 2026.

Candidates are advised to keep their necessary verification certificates ready and complete the revision of the main syllabus in alignment with the timeline for the upcoming competitive examination.

UPPSC PCS Notification 2026: Exam Pattern and Selection Framework

The state selection framework tests a candidate's intellectual range, analytical depth, ethical decision-making, and structural writing capabilities across three distinct screening stages:

Stage 1: Preliminary Examination (Prelims):

An objective-type elimination round is split into two papers, each lasting 2 hours. Paper 1 tests General Studies (History, Geography, Polity, Economy, and General Science), while Paper 2 (CSAT) gauges logical reasoning, mathematics, and reading comprehension.

General Studies (GS) Paper I: 100 questions, 200 marks. This paper determines the cutoff for the Mains qualification.

CSAT (GS Paper II): 80 questions, 200 marks. It is qualifying in nature; candidates must score at least 33 per cent (66.67 marks) to qualify.

Note:  There is a penalty of 1/3rd of the marks assigned to that question for every incorrect answer. 

Stage 2: Main Examination (Mains):

A descriptive, written, conventional exam that serves as the primary evaluation pillar. It tests candidates through dedicated essay writing and comprehensive General Studies papers covering Indian culture, polity, governance, science, and extensive Uttar Pradesh general knowledge. 

The Mains exam is a descriptive written test consisting of 9 papers. Each paper is 3 hours long. 

Qualifying Papers (Marks are not counted for final merit): 

Paper A: Any Indian Language listed in the 8th Schedule (300 marks).

Paper B: English (300 marks).

Note: Candidates must score a minimum of 25% (75 marks) in each of these to have their remaining GS and Optional papers evaluated. 

Papers Counted for Merit (1,750 Total Marks):

Paper I: Essay (250 marks)

Paper II: GS I (Indian Heritage & Culture, History, Geography)

Paper III: GS II (Polity, Governance, Social Justice, IR)

Paper IV: GS III (Economy, Science & Tech, Environment, Security)

Paper V: GS IV (Ethics, Integrity, Aptitude)

Paper VI: Optional Subject - Paper I (250 marks)

Paper VII: Optional Subject - Paper II (250 marks)

Stage 3: Personality Test (Interview):

A face-to-face evaluation round focused on assessing administrative aptitude, verbal clarity, and personal integrity. The final state merit rank is calculated using the combined score of the Mains papers and the Interview performance.
