UPSC Marksheet 2024 Released: The streets of Prayagraj erupted in celebration as news broke of local resident Shakti Dubey securing the coveted All India Rank 1 in the prestigious UPSC Civil Services Examination 2024. The Banaras Hindu University postgraduate achieved this remarkable feat in her fifth attempt, scoring an impressive 1,043 marks out of 2,025 – translating to 51.5% overall. Her journey to the top included securing 843 marks in the written examination and a near-perfect 200 out of 275 in the personality test.
The UPSC results, declared earlier this week, have brought joy to 1,009 successful candidates including 725 men and 284 women who will now join the country's premier civil services. This year's examination has highlighted exceptional talent across diverse educational backgrounds, with toppers emerging from fields ranging from political science to engineering and chartered accountancy, showcasing the inclusive nature of India's premier competitive examination.

The second position went to Harshita Goyal, a 24-year-old chartered accountant from Vadodara, Gujarat, with Haryana roots. In her third attempt, Goyal secured 1,038 marks (51.28%), comprising 851 in the main examination and 187 in the interview. Like the topper, she too opted for political science and international relations as her optional subject.
Dongre Archit Parag and Shah Margi Chirag secured the third and fourth ranks respectively. Parag, a 26-year-old electrical and electronics engineering graduate from Vellore Institute of Technology, scored identical marks to Goyal (1,038), with 848 in the mains and 190 in the interview. Chirag, also 26, with a computer engineering background from Gujarat Technological University, secured 1,035 marks (825 in mains and 210 in interview) in her fifth attempt.
The national capital's top performer, Aakash Garg, secured the fifth rank with 1,032 marks (50.96%). The 24-year-old computer science graduate from Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University achieved this remarkable feat in just his second attempt, with sociology as his optional subject.
This year's results reflect a slight downward trend in top scores compared to last year when Aditya Srivastava topped with 54.27% (1,099 marks). Among the successful candidates this year, 335 belong to the general category, 109 to economically-weaker sections, 318 to Other Backward Classes, 160 to Scheduled Castes, and 87 to Scheduled Tribes.
UPSC Examination Process And Cut-off Marks:
The Civil Services Examination follows a three-tier selection process – preliminary examination, main examination, and personality test. The preliminary examination, conducted on June 16 last year, attracted 9,92,599 applicants, of whom 5,83,213 appeared for the test. Only 14,627 candidates qualified for the main examination held in September 2024, and 2,845 advanced to the interview stage conducted between January and April 2025.
The UPSC has also released category-wise cut-off marks for all stages of the examination. For the preliminary stage, the general category cut-off was set at 87.98, while for the main examination, candidates needed to score at least 729 marks to qualify. The final selection threshold for general category candidates was 947 marks.

UPSC Mains Cut Off 2024:
The Main Examination consists of nine papers, with seven papers considered for merit ranking. The English and Indian Language papers are qualifying in nature, requiring candidates to achieve minimum marks as prescribed by the UPSC.
