One Nation One Subscription Scheme Benefits: The Union Cabinet has approved the ‘One Nation One Subscription’ (ONOS) scheme to grant students, teachers, and researchers at colleges and universities across India access to international research articles and journals.

With an allocation of Rs 6,000 crore over three years, this initiative supports the goals of Viksit Bharat @ 2047, the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, and the Anusandhan National Research Foundation (ANRF).

The scheme will provide access to journals through a national subscription managed by the Information and Library Network (INFLIBNET), an autonomous inter-university centre under the University Grants Commission (UGC). The entire process will be conducted digitally.

According to the government, the scheme is aimed at fostering research, development, and innovation in government universities, colleges, research institutions, and R&D laboratories.

One Nation One Subscription (ONOS) Key Features

- The scheme includes 30 major international journal publishers, offering access to approximately 13,000 e-journals. It is expected to benefit 1.8 crore students, faculty members, researchers, and scientists across all disciplines, particularly those from tier-2 and tier-3 cities.

- The One Nation One Subscription (ONOS) scheme will operate entirely through a digital process, with journal access managed via a national subscription coordinated by INFLIBNET, an autonomous inter-university centre under the University Grants Commission (UGC). A unified portal, "One Nation One Subscription," developed by the Department of Higher Education, will provide institutions with access to these resources.

- The scheme covers both central and state government-funded higher education institutions (HEIs), along with centrally-funded research and development (R&D) institutions. More than 6,300 HEIs and R&D institutions will benefit from the initiative.

- The Anusandhan National Research Foundation (ANRF) will review the usage of subscriptions and track publications by Indian authors in participating institutions.
