‘Silver City of India’: Cuttack is the city which is popularly known as the ‘Silver city of India’ because of its beautiful architecture, historic buildings, artisans work, and most importantly silver filigree craft (Tarakasi). Tarakashi is a famous traditional art form there. These artisans are popular for creating decorative items, intricate jewelry sets and necklaces and utensils from silver. Tarakashi helps in converting thin silver foils into beautiful as well as complex designs.
Cuttack is also a home to thousands of artisans craftsman who have inherited this famous traditional art form, making the city a significant center for silver artistic works. Silvers also have a cultural significance as it is a crucial part of Cuttack's cultural and traditional heritage, it is even used to make Goddess Durga Idols. Cuttack is also considered as one of the oldest cities in Odisha.

A Look at Cuttack's History:
Cuttack's has a rich history and cultural traditional values. It goes back to the time of the Keshari dynasty. Andrew Stirling once mentioned that King Nrupa Keshari started Cuttack as a military camp in 989 CE.
Cuttack also has several beautiful temples such as Dhabaleshwar Temple, Cuttack Chandi Temple, Baba Ramdev Temple, Paramhansa Nath Temple and more.
Durga Puja: Durga Puja is one of the most famous festivals of Cuttack. About 200 clay idols of Goddess Durga are made during the celebrations. The special thing about Cuttack's Durga Puja is the Suna Medha, where those idols of Goddess Durga are decorated with gold and silver.
Boita Bandana: Boita Bandana is a festival which is celebrated with great enthusiasm on the last day of the Hindu month of Kartik. To celebrate this festival people float small boats models in the Kathajodi rivers.
