UP School Winter Holidays: Uttar Pradesh's primary schools will remain closed starting today, December 31, 2024, for a 15-day winter vacation. The break comes after the completion of the half-yearly exams on December 28, 2024. The winter holidays will last until January 14, 2024, and students are expected to return to school on January 15, 2024, at the usual timings. Students and parents are advised to contact their respective schools to know the exact date of the winter holidays.
The District Magistrates of Meerut and Baghpat have declared holidays for schools up to Class 8. Schools in these districts will remain closed today, December 31, 2024. In Muzaffarnagar, schools will be closed today as well. Moreover, to ensure continuity in learning, teachers have assigned 15 days of homework for students.
According to media reports, winter vacations usually commence in most states by the last week of December. In Delhi, schools will remain closed from January 1 to 15, 2025. However, due to persistent rainfall, many schools have been closed since Christmas, with some opting for online classes. Meanwhile, in Uttar Pradesh, the minimum temperature dropped to 9 degrees Celsius in Bulandshahr and Najibabad. The Meteorological Department has issued a yellow alert for December 30 and 31, 2024, signaling cold and rainy conditions ahead.

Last week, heavy rainfall impacted Delhi-NCR, forcing the closure of schools in Delhi, Noida, and Ghaziabad. Some areas in Noida also reported hailstorms. In response to the adverse weather, the Ghaziabad District Magistrate ordered all schools to remain closed until December 31, 2024. Winter vacations across the state will begin on January 1, 2025. Meanwhile, most private schools in Uttar Pradesh have already been shut since December 25.
