Karnataka Assembly Election 2023: The state of Karnataka is all set to conduct elections in the 224-member Legislative Assembly on May 10 while the results for the high-stake polls will be declared on May 13.

Chamrajpet is one of the 224 assembly segments across the 31 districts in Karnataka. It is located in Old Bangalore and is part of the Bangalore Central Lok Sabha constituency. It was named after Maharaja Chamarajendra Wodeyar, who ruled from 1868 to 1894 and became known for his progressive ideas. Chamrajpet was founded in 1892 to relieve Bangalore's population congestion. However, it was only inhabited after an outbreak of plague in Old Bangalore in 1897. It is an unreserved constituency.

Chamrajpet Assembly Election 2023:

This year, congress has fielded B Z Zameer Ahmed Khan. Meanwhile, BJP has fielded Bhaskar Rao and denied a ticket to M Lakshminarayana. While Arvind Kejriwal-led Aam Aadmi Party has fielded Jagadish Chandra C. The JD (S) has fielded Govind Raju.

There are 2,16,900 voters in the constituency, including general voters, NRI voters, and service voters. Amongst the general voters 1,12,728 are male, while the females comprise 1,04,150 voters and 18 others. The electorate s*x ratio in the constituency is 92.39 per cent and the approximate literacy rate is 83 per cent.

Chamrajpet Assembly Election 2018:

During the 2018 Karnataka Assembly election, Congress's B Z Zameer Ahmed Khan won the constituency with as many as 65,339 votes with a margin of 33,137 votes. The voting rate was 54.35 per cent. M Lakshminarayana of the Bharatiya Janata Party was the runner-up with 32,202 votes. B K Altaf Khan of the JD (S) received only 19,393 votes.
