Karnataka Assembly Election 2023: The state of Karnataka is all set to conduct elections in the 224-member Legislative Assembly on May 10 while the results for the high-stake polls will be declared on May 13.

Govindraj Nagar is one of the 224 assembly segments across the 31 districts in Karnataka. It is part of the Lok Sabha constituency of Bangalore South. It is a mixed bag of well-planned layouts and underdeveloped areas. It is an unreserved constituency.

Govindraj Nagar Assembly Election 2023:

This year, Bharatiya Janata Party has fielded Umesh Shetty and denied a ticket to V Somanna. The Congress has fielded Priyakrishnna. While the Aam Aadmi Paty (AAP) will be betting on Anjana Gowda. The JD (S) has fielded R Prakash.

There are a total of 2,88,251 voters in the constituency that include general voters, NRI voters, and service voters. Amongst the general voters 1,50,961 are male, while females comprise 1,37,233 voters and 54 others. The electorate s*x ratio in the constituency is 90.9 per cent and the approximate literacy rate is 88 per cent.

Govindraj Nagar Assembly Election 2018:

During the 2018 Karnataka Assembly election, BJP's V Somanna won the constituency with as many as 79,135 votes with a margin of 11,375 votes. The voting rate was 50.33 per cent. Priya Krishna of the Congress was the runner-up with 67,760 votes. A Nagendra Prasad of the JD (S) received only 7,090 votes.
