Karnataka Assembly Election 2023: The state witnessed a high-stake battle between the National Parties - BJP and Congress - in the Southern state of Karnataka. The elections to the 224-legislative Assembly took place on May 10, 2023, and the results will be declared today on May 13, 2023.
Hassan assembly constituency is one of the 224 assembly constituencies in Karnataka state. It is a General category assembly seat. This assembly seat falls in the Hassan district and is one of the 8 assembly segments of the Hasan Parliamentary Seat.
Hassan Assembly Election 2023
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Indian National Congress (INC), Janata Dal JD(S) and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) are the major political parties contesting in the Hassan constituency. This year, the JD(S) has fielded Swaroop H S Prakash, while Preetham J. Gowda from BJP, Agile Yogish from AAP and Banavasi Rangaswamy from INC will be contesting for the Hassan constituency elections. The JD(S) and BJP candidates are engaged in a neck-in-neck contest and are just five votes apart as per the early trends. Congress has got a little over 3 per cent vote share here, even as it looks to win the state comfortably.
In 2018, Preetham J Gowda of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) won the constituency by defeating HS Prakash of the Janata Dal (Secular) with a margin of 13,006 votes. Meanwhile, HS Prakash from Janata Dal emerged as the winner in the 2013, 2008 and 2004 elections of the Hassan assembly constituency.
Hassan Assembly Election 2018
In 2018, Preetham J Gowda of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) emerged as the winner of the Hassan assembly constituency elections with a vote margin of 63,348 votes. HS Prakash from JD(S) was the runner-up with a vote margin of 50,342, while H K Mahesh who contested from INC secured third position with a vote margin of 25 per cent.
